:: The
cultivation of grape-vines in our region goes as far back as the
gallo-roman days. The first farmers started by clearing the ground
of all the stones in order to grow a few acres of grape vines
in the fertile basins.
Since then, the cultivation of the grapes has
been continuous, the acreage has expanded and the love of viticulture
handed down from father to son.
In 1924, the farmers of Orgnac founded the first
wine cooperative in the Ardèche.
:: Today the Orgnac
cooperative is joined with other wine producers and is one of
24 similar organisations in the area which together form the union
of Ardèche wine growers (U.V.I.C.A.).
